Crawfish Boil!

An extension to our Easter festivities David decided we were going to celebrate Easter Sunday (or Saturday for us) with a true Louisiana tradition, a Crawfish Boil!

Step 1: Pick-up a case of Louisiana Abita beer and throw in a bucket full of ice.

Step 2: Drink a beer.

Step 3: Get yourself a large bag of fresh live Louisiana Crawfish (spring months only). Time to enjoy another beer. Bring a very large pot of water to a boil. Have another beer.

Step 4: Time to drink another beer. Chuck in some red potatoes, corn-cobs and plenty of Cajun spices. Have another beer! In go the crustaceans for a few minutes. Kill the boil. Enjoy another beer and then...

...Serve!

Be Happy! Eat Crawfish!

An absolutely splendid experience!
(Beer optional)

Easter in Kansas

Happy Easter!

We have just traveled over 4,300 miles across the pond to spend our Easter holiday with "Meme & Pepe" Chauvin in Baldwin City, Kansas! Right away the trip was looking particularly good when we discovered M&P had acquired a golf cart for getting around town -nice!

And here you can find the most important appliance ever created for a man; The "Kegerator!" Stocked with a barrel of the local brew Ad-Astra Ale courtesy of the Freestate Brewery, Lawrence AWESOME on all levels!

11:58 already?...time for a pint!!!

I want one!

We took a ride on an old locomotive to an Easter egg hunt for the kids which turned into a slightly odd experience:

30 mins' on a train going at an agonising walking pace, kids getting impatient and finally stop. Get off. All line up! Hold it...on the count of three...and GO! And then ensues a frenzy of at least a hundred young children running into a very small field (more like a large back garden) on the siding trying to grab as many plastic eggs as possible. it was Easter Egg anarchy! and it was over in 2 minutes! I wish I had pictures of that warzone but I was busy protecting my child...

In the meantime our Olive a little bemused and mostly outrun by older kids swooped in and claimed a few choice eggs to put in her basket -phew! After that it was back on the train home again and a chance to meet as Olive quite rightfully put it; the "Scare-wee" bunny!!!

Yikes! It was a little strange that furry thing sitting back there in that last caboose dishing out M&M's to some slightly fearful looking under 3's! After that it was back to Meme n' Pepe's for another more civilised hunt where the Smolive was the winner every time!

Pepe had taken it upon himself to install an ace sand box. Good man!

And Olive (almost) got to drive the super quad lawn mower!

Brilliant.

Muffin

Sometimes a picture can really capture the spirit and beauty of something. Here is my little girl just turned 2!

Kellye's favourite cherry tree in full bloom...

A glorious spring day, warm weather a really perfect day for a family picnic in view of Olive's birthday.

what a boomin' cutie we love you!

Olive turns 2

A belated post in honor of April 5th the day our little Smolive turned 2!

Two years on the planet already. what can I say? It's gone quick! So much development and change I can't even remember what it was like when she was 1!!! Time moves particularly fast these days...

So, we all took the day off and unfortunately awoke to a dreary damp day but no matter! The plan -spoil Olive! We went for breakfast at the local cafe so olive -and mummy -could get some smoothie and...cake!

After this a stroll was in order for some fresh air, go feed the duckies...

...the daffs' still blooming in the palace gardens...

And a rare treat, some Horse's where hanging about on location for a film being shot in the palace -brilliant! The smalls was very curious to go say hello!

In the afternoon we met up with her old pal Henry for tea and ice cream and then met Stanley who got on a 'trolley' race bounding around and generally trying to take each others toys and keep their own -sharing is caring!!!
