On May 6th we took Olive and Baxter (with Meme and Pepe in tow!)
to see there first proper modern art exhibition the Light Show at the Hayward
Gallery.
For Dad this was quite an important event as I have thought
long and hard about what would be their first proper art experience and wanted it to provoke a lasting impression. With that in mind I had ruled
out taking them to see a painting show as they would likely get bored or not pay attention
being so young but the Light Show promised a more interactive visual
experience and including some of my all-time favourite artists I thought this was the show to take them too and really it couldn't have been any better -they loved it! One particular installation was a huge success; Chromosaturation, 2008 by Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez. All the kids were running and rolling around in a space saturated with just pure coloured light. It was a delight to behold and a good measure of a successful wok that children and grown-ups alike can interact and enjoy a work on the same level. Brilliant.
