Easter in Kansas

Happy Easter!

We have just traveled over 4,300 miles across the pond to spend our Easter holiday with "Meme & Pepe" Chauvin in Baldwin City, Kansas! Right away the trip was looking particularly good when we discovered M&P had acquired a golf cart for getting around town -nice!

And here you can find the most important appliance ever created for a man; The "Kegerator!" Stocked with a barrel of the local brew Ad-Astra Ale courtesy of the Freestate Brewery, Lawrence AWESOME on all levels!

11:58 already?...time for a pint!!!

I want one!

We took a ride on an old locomotive to an Easter egg hunt for the kids which turned into a slightly odd experience:

30 mins' on a train going at an agonising walking pace, kids getting impatient and finally stop. Get off. All line up! Hold it...on the count of three...and GO! And then ensues a frenzy of at least a hundred young children running into a very small field (more like a large back garden) on the siding trying to grab as many plastic eggs as possible. it was Easter Egg anarchy! and it was over in 2 minutes! I wish I had pictures of that warzone but I was busy protecting my child...

In the meantime our Olive a little bemused and mostly outrun by older kids swooped in and claimed a few choice eggs to put in her basket -phew! After that it was back on the train home again and a chance to meet as Olive quite rightfully put it; the "Scare-wee" bunny!!!

Yikes! It was a little strange that furry thing sitting back there in that last caboose dishing out M&M's to some slightly fearful looking under 3's! After that it was back to Meme n' Pepe's for another more civilised hunt where the Smolive was the winner every time!

Pepe had taken it upon himself to install an ace sand box. Good man!

And Olive (almost) got to drive the super quad lawn mower!

Brilliant.
